While dermal filler injections are one of the most non-invasive procedures to help rejuvenate your skin, just like with any procedure there are some important things avoid after your Dallas filler injections.

What To Avoid After Juvéderm Injections?

Juvéderm injectable treatments are a cosmetic filler made of hyaluronic acid, a compound found naturally in the skin. A Juvéderm treatment takes only a few minutes to an hour. After a thorough consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Bryan Armijo, where you will both compose a plan of exactly where you want the filler to be administered before Dr. Armijo will begin admitted small doses of filler into your desired locations. Targeted areas can include: the lips, cheeks, beneath the eyes, and nearly anywhere where your skin needs some added volume or to fill wrinkles and folds.

To get the most from your Juvéderm fillers, consider following these aftercare tips and avoid these few practiced.

1.  Avoid Too Much Sun Exposure

Redness and swelling in the treated area can be exacerbated by too much sun exposure. As a results, it’s important to avoid too much sun exposure as much as possible. When going outside, apply sunscreen regularly, and wear protective clothing like hats or visors. Avoid tanning rooms, sauna, and hot tubs, which emit high heat levels and can increase irritation.

2. Avoid Strenuous Activity

Increased body temperature and physical activity can cause excess blood flow to the face, which can lead to more intense inflammation, pain, and bruising. Sweating caused by vigorous exercise can also expose the injection sites to bacteria, increasing chances of injection site infection.

3. Avoid Drinking and Smoking

It’s advisable to refrain from smoking or drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours after receiving your Juvéderm injections. Alcohol is considered a blood thinner, so it raises the risk of additional bruising, swelling and inflammation. Drinking alcohol beverages can also dehydrate the skin. Instead, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated after receiving your injections.

4. Avoid Applying Topical Products

Unless approved by your doctor, cease applying topical products that could potentially irritate your skin like skin serums, anti-aging ointments, and creams that contain retinoids, glycolic acid, and other retin-A containing products for the first 48 hours after your treatment.

5. Avoid Massaging or Putting Too Much Pressure Near Injection Sites

Applying pressure when using your skin care or even while you sleep can increase the chances of developing an infection at the injection site. It can also cause the injectable solution to shift slightly which may produce unwanted results.
